Arnold Newman
Famous photographer Arnold Newman was born in New York City on March 3rd, 1918. He grew up and attended school in Atlantic City , N.J. and Miami Beach , FL. He received a scholarship to study art at the university of Miami " Coral Gables" Florida. He studied there from 1936-1938. His wife was named Augusta Rubenstein, and his 2 sons Eric and David.
Newman began his career in photography in 1938, working at chain studios in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and West Palm beach. He then Immediately began working in abstract and documentary photography on his own. He was "discovered" in june of 1941. An exhibit at the A.D. gallery was given to him
Newman also authored many books Including Bravo Stravinsky in 1967. Newman also received many awards such as Doctor of fine arts, University of Miami; 1981.
Newman was recovering from a recent stroke when he had a heart attack and died in New York City. He died on June 6, 2006 at age 88. His wife died in 2009.
